  1. Connect a mini USB cable from the Linux desktop to the mini-usb connector on the Openrd.
  2. Power up the Openrd
  3. You should get two new /dev/ttyUSB0 and /dev/ttyUSB1 serial interfaces (number might change if you have other usb to serial devices). If no new ttyUSB devices appear then try modprobe to force loading of usbserial and ftdi_sio:

    # modprobe usbserial
    # modprobe ftdi_sio vendor=0x0403 product=0x9e90

    Following messages will appear on Linux desktop console. Alternatively, user can use ‘dmesg' command to view these messages:

    usb 2-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 8
    usb 2-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
    ftdi_sio 2-1:1.0: FTDI USB Serial Device converter detected
    ftdi_sio: Detected FT2232C
    usb 2-1: FTDI USB Serial Device converter now attached to ttyUSB0
    ftdi_sio 2-1:1.1: FTDI USB Serial Device converter detected
    ftdi_sio: Detected FT2232C
    usb 2-1: FTDI USB Serial Device converter now attached to ttyUSB1
    usb 2-1: New USB device found, idVendor=0403, idProduct=9e90
    usb 2-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
    usb 2-1: Product: OpenRD JTAGKey FT2232D B
    usb 2-1: Manufacturer: FTDI
    usb 2-1: SerialNumber: FTS3RTDV
  4. For getting the console you should connect to the second serial interface /dev/ttyUSB1 (first one is used for JTAG connectivity).
